In loving memory of

Stella Milsom

DR

MbChB, Dip Obs, FRACP

Her many achievements include receiving the prestigious Ibbertson Award for her pioneering contributions to endocrinology and being named Mentor of the Year by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in recognition of her exceptional guidance and support to the next generation of medical professionals. She also served as a Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Auckland, inspiring and guiding countless future specialists.

Beyond her clinical expertise in areas such as menopause, PCOS, bone health, pediatric endocrinology, and variations of sexual characteristics, Dr. Milsom was deeply involved in leadership and advocacy. She served on the boards of Osteoporosis New Zealand and Human Fertility UK, chaired endocrinology training for the Royal College of Physicians, and provided expert guidance for national health guidelines on menopausal hormone therapy and fertility preservation. Her role on WHISPA, the medical advisory board to High Performance Sport New Zealand, further highlighted her wide-ranging influence.

Dr. Milsom’s mentorship was a cornerstone of her career, shaping the next generation of endocrinologists at ERH Associates and beyond. Her enduring commitment to patient care and education set a standard we will strive to uphold in her absence.

Outside her professional life, Dr. Milsom pursued diverse passions, from her early aspirations as a clarinetist to managing several agricultural farms alongside her husband, a cardiothoracic surgeon. Her ability to balance such a dynamic personal and professional life was truly inspiring.

With heartfelt respect and gratitude,
